Department wants schooling to return back to normal

SABC News writes that Director-General of the Department of Basic Education, Mathanzima Mweli says the department wants to see schooling completely back on track and operating 100% instead of rotational learning. Mweli was speaking from the SABC studios at Auckland Park, where he presented a technical report ahead of the Class of 2021 matric results announcement. Mweli says the department has approached the National Coronavirus Command Council to ease COVID-19 restrictions in order for schools to return to normal.

“The class of 2021 is the largest class ever in history. This class went through an extraordinary two years of schooling.  This class had to be taught through a rotational system. You’d be aware that we’ve made a presentation it is now going to the NCCC  for consideration and our recommendation is that we want to see schooling fully back on track 100%and we hope that recommendation was endorsed,” says Mweli.
